Celebrating Community and Kindness This Christmas

Southport’s Journey: Closing the Year With Gratitude

Hello everyone, and welcome to December.

This month arrives with its own kind of softness — the lights, the pace, the sense of reflection that creeps in whether we expect it or not. As we move toward the end of the year, I’ve been thinking a lot about how much has changed in twelve months. Personally, professionally, and for this magazine.

What started as a small local publication is now a place where Southport’s stories meet, grow, and find their way into the hands and hearts of our community. And that’s because of you — the readers, the supporters, the believers, the businesses who took a chance, and the people who kept saying, “keep going, this matters.”

Inside December’s Issue (Read here)

This month’s magazine is full of the moments that make Southport shine at Christmas — quiet acts of kindness, local makers, community events, the Big Onion’s first festive market, Southport Life’s generosity, winter walks, and the people who quietly lift others without ever asking for applause.

It’s a warm, reflective issue. A gentle exhale to end the year.

A Special Thank You: The People Who Stood With Us This Year

This magazine does not exist without the people behind it. I want to acknowledge the organisations and individuals who have shaped, supported and strengthened us over the past year.

Hope Funeral Care
Their compassion-led approach, their willingness to share meaningful stories, and their trust in our writing has been an honour to hold.

Southport Life
A powerhouse of energy, connection and community action. Their support — and the way they bring people together — has amplified Local voices in ways that matter.

The Level Up Network
Thank you for opening doors, making introductions, and believing in this publication’s potential from the very beginning.

The Big Onion
A new but deeply meaningful addition to Southport’s centre. Their belief in community space, local business support, and accessible opportunity aligns beautifully with the heart of this magazine.

And finally — to every person, business and project who trusted us with their story: thank you. You’ve strengthened our writing, our purpose and our belief in what Southport can be when people choose to stand together.

Looking Toward January: Get Involved — It’s Easier Than You Think

As we step into the new year, Southport’s Journey is opening its pages wider than ever. January’s issue will focus on:

• new voices
• new businesses
• new ideas
• new collaborations
• and the fresh start spirit that only January brings

If you’ve been thinking about featuring your business, project, creative work, charity or event — this is your nudge.

It’s more affordable than most people think.
It’s simple.
And I’ll help guide every step.

If you’d like to be part of the January issue, send a message or connect through our socials — I’d love to spotlight what you’re building.

A Personal Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has read, shared, encouraged and supported this magazine throughout 2025. This month, the “local highlight,” is YOU!

Your wins, your faith, your comradery, and your belief in the stories of Southport have carried us here. I couldn’t be more grateful.

Wishing you all a warm, joyful Christmas and a hopeful New Year.
Here’s to community, creativity, courage — and to the stories we’ll tell together in 2026.

With love,
Lizzie x
